Frequently AskedQuestions
Answers to common questions about sourcing steel through Asia Pacific Industries.

What steel products do you supply?
We supply structural steel (beams, columns, channels, angles, plate), prefabricated components (trusses, frames, modules), custom fabrication to engineering drawings, steel pipe and tube (CHS, RHS, SHS), and steel plate and sheet in various grades. All products are sourced from our vetted Vietnamese manufacturing partners.
Do your products comply with Australian Standards?
Yes. All products are supplied in accordance with relevant Australian Standards including AS/NZS 3678 (structural plate), AS/NZS 3679 (structural sections), AS 4100 (steel structures) and AS/NZS 1554 (structural steel welding). Full materials test certificates are provided with every order.
How do you ensure quality for internationally sourced steel?
Our quality assurance process includes manufacturer pre-qualification, material verification against test certificates, in-process inspection during fabrication, and pre-shipment inspection before materials leave the factory. Independent third-party inspection is available for significant orders.
What is the typical lead time for steel supply?
Lead times depend on the product type, quantity and current production schedules. Typical lead times range from 6-12 weeks including manufacturing, quality inspection, shipping and customs clearance. We recommend engaging as early as possible in the project timeline to optimise scheduling.
Do you deliver to all Australian states?
Yes. We supply steel to projects across all Australian states and territories — from metropolitan sites to remote regional locations. We manage the complete logistics chain including shipping, customs clearance and delivery to your project site.
How does pricing compare to domestic steel supply?
Total landed costs for internationally sourced steel are typically 15-35% below equivalent domestic supply, depending on the product type and quantity. The cost advantage is most significant for fabricated and prefabricated products where the labour cost differential is greatest.
What is the minimum order size?
Minimum order sizes depend on the product type and manufacturing requirements. We can typically accommodate orders from a single container load (approximately 20-25 tonnes) upward. Contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
Can you fabricate to our engineering drawings?
Yes. Our manufacturing partners fabricate to your engineering drawings and specifications. We review drawings for manufacturability before production begins and manage quality control throughout the fabrication process.
What documentation do you provide?
We provide comprehensive quality documentation including materials test certificates (MTCs), welding procedure specifications, inspection reports, dimensional check records, surface treatment certificates, photographic documentation and certificates of compliance.
